In the era of greatest human mobility, the International Organization for Migration continues to play a leading role in the area of migraton worldwide. From its roots as an operational agency, IOM has broadened its scope to become the leading international agency working with governments and civil society. Today IOM promotes dialogue and cooperation on migration, advances migration research, and supports governments in understanding the complexities of modern migration. Ranging from the impacts of migration and development to the links between climate change and migration, IOM believes that migration needs to be understood and addressed in all its dimensions and from all angles. IOM’s research programme and its flagship publication, the World Migration Report, its International Migration Law Programme, and the International Dialogue on Migration are some of the ways through which the Organization strives to be at the cutting-edge of migration issues in the twenty-first century.
